Challenge
Before Legrand | AV’s Unified Cloud Platform, MTSU’s support model looked like the reality many higher education AV teams know well. When an issue came in, someone had to go to the room, inspect the rack, trace devices and outlets, diagnose the problem, and resolve it on site. Across hundreds of classrooms, that process consumed time the team did not have.
The bigger issue was visibility. Without a shared remote view into power status, outlet behavior, device draw, and room health, the team was forced into a reactive support posture. A display, control system, or other classroom device could fail quietly until a faculty member reported it. By then, class time was already at risk.
Approach
MTSU deployed Middle Atlantic Premium+ PDUs across classroom and conference room environments, including RLNK-P920R-SP units for instructor stations, RLNK-215 units for classroom displays, and RLNK-415R units for conference rooms. Connected through the Unified Cloud Platform, those devices give the team a single place to monitor and manage rack power across the campus.
Every outlet can be named by device type, so support staff no longer need to guess which piece of equipment is connected where. They can search by room, review real-time amperage, spot unusual draw, and power cycle a specific outlet without disrupting the rest of the room.
MTSU also extended the value of the Unified Cloud Platform through automation. The team uses scripts for bulk configuration and fleet updates, Autoping monitoring for high-priority devices, and secure access methods to support remote troubleshooting. That combination has helped the team move from manual, room-by-room support to a more proactive operating model.

Results
- The operational results were immediate. In just the first two weeks of the Spring 2026 semester, MTSU resolved 15 to 20 incidents entirely remotely. Those issues would previously have required a trip across campus, rack inspection, and hands-on troubleshooting.
- Legrand | AV Unified Cloud Platform is now deployed across 93 percent of MTSU’s instructional spaces, with the team working toward full coverage. It has become part of the university’s classroom standard and is being planned into new buildings from the start.
- The energy impact is also meaningful. By scheduling automated power-downs for high-draw equipment during nights, weekends, and semester breaks, MTSU estimates it has cut idle power consumption by 15 percent or more across the estate
